Florida module · buyer FAQ

The five questions Florida buyers ask before the $499 click.

Buyer-objection Q&A — essay scoring turnaround, MBE weighting on the Florida bar, Florida Constitutional Law + the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar, repeat-taker eligibility, and where the FBBE stops being the UBE.

How fast do FBBE essay scores come back?

FBBE essays are hand-graded twice and released in a single pass — Florida does not split essay release from MBE release the way several UBE jurisdictions do. The Florida Board of Bar Examiners posts results on its results portal (the same one used for the Character & Fitness filing), and the typical window is 9–11 weeks from the Tuesday after the Tuesday exam, with the February administration landing in April and the July administration landing in October. The module’s 13-week calendar accounts for that result window — Week 13 is the post-result debrief, not a re-write cycle.

How heavily is the MBE weighted on the FL bar?

Per the FBBE’s published scoring rules, the two-day FBBE blends a scaled essay score and a scaled MBE score, each weighted 50%. A passing score requires 70%+ scaled on the essay component AND 70%+ scaled on the MBE component — a candidate cannot compensate a weak MBE with a strong essay, or vice versa. The Day 2 AM MBE is the same 200-question multistate bar exam used in every UBE jurisdiction, anchored to the seven MBE subjects. The FL overlay in this module flags every question where Florida practice diverges from the multistate default — Fla. Stat. ch. 90 (Evidence), the Fla. R. Civ. P., Fla. R. Crim. P., and the R. Regulating Fla. Bar ch. 4–5.

How much Florida Constitutional Law and FL Rules of Professional Conduct do I really need?

Both are graded subjects on the three Day 1 AM FL essays. Florida Constitutional Law — anchored to the Fla. Const. art. X § 4 homestead doctrine, the Declaration of Rights, the article on taxation and financing of public schools, and the distribution-of-powers provisions — appears on at least one essay per administration cycle. The Rules of Professional Conduct (R. Regulating Fla. Bar ch. 4, esp. ch. 4-7 through ch. 4-8.4) appear on a separate essay topic and on roughly 10–15 FL-only MC items on Day 1 PM, and they reappear on the Character & Fitness application itself under R. Regulating Fla. Bar ch. 3. The module treats both as first-tier graded subjects — FL Con Law gets a dedicated outline section, and PR is woven into the writing drill, the essay rubric, and the guide library.

I failed the FBBE once — does this module still work for repeat takers?

Yes — the FBBE permits unlimited retakes under Rules of the Supreme Court of Florida, Rule III (no cap on attempts). Each retake requires a fresh bar examination application and filing fee through the FBBE portal; the module purchase is independent of attempt number (your access window stays open across attempts during the same cycle). Repeat-taker buyers typically skip the Foundations phase of the 3-month calendar (Weeks 1–2) and start at Week 3 — the slice-by-slice structure makes that easy to do without re-buying the bundle.

How does the FL bar differ from the UBE jurisdictions next door (GA, NY, NC)?

Georgia, New York, and North Carolina administer the UBE — a single 12-hour exam whose MBE and written components transfer between participating jurisdictions at a score of 266 (GA) / 266 (NY) / 270 (NC), and whose written components test multistate authorities. Florida does NOT participate in the UBE: the FBBE is its own two-day, 12-hour Tampa-administered exam, and Day 1 AM (three FL essays) is anchored to the Florida-published topic list — Florida Constitutional Law, Fla. Stat. ch. 61 Family Law, Fla. Stat. ch. 731–735 Wills / Trusts / Estates, Fla. Stat. ch. 718 Real Property, Fla. Stat. ch. 607 BOCA, and the Fla. R. Civ. P. / Fla. R. Crim. P. Day 1 PM (~100 FL-only MC) anchors to Fla. Stat. ch. 90 (Evidence), the Fla. R. Crim. P., and the R. Regulating Fla. Bar ch. 4–5. UBE study material from those jurisdictions does not transfer — every FL answer names a Florida authority.

Florida Board of Bar Examiners · admission

What every Florida candidate has to clear before sitting.

The four administrative facts every Florida candidate needs — sourced to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners and the Rules of the Supreme Court of Florida, with the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar for character & fitness and the post-admission CLE framework. This is the statutory ground the module is written on top of, not a marketing pitch.

01 · administrator

Florida Board of Bar Examiners (FBBE)

Bar admission is administered by the Florida Board of Bar Examiners acting under the authority of the Supreme Court of Florida and the Rules of the Supreme Court of Florida, Rule III. The FBBE processes applications, sets the exam, and certifies admissions.

02 · eligibility

JD from an ABA-approved law school + FL Character & Fitness application

JD from an ABA-approved law school is required, paired with a complete Florida Character & Fitness application under the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar, Chapter 3. The FBBE expects applicants to volunteer adverse information timely — late disclosure extends the timeline; the safe path is full disclosure well before the priority filing date.

03 · the bar exam

Two-day FBBE · Tampa · Feb & July · 70%+ scaled essay + 70%+ MBE

Day 1 AM: three FL essays (3 hrs). Day 1 PM: ~100 FL-only MC (3 hrs). Day 2 AM: 200-question multistate MBE (6 hrs, two 3-hour sessions). Administered at the Tampa Convention Center; weights 70%+ scaled essay + 70%+ MBE blended.

04 · MPRE + C&F + CLE

MPRE scaled ≥ 80 + R. Reg. Fla. Bar Ch. 3 + post-admission CLE

The MPRE scaled ≥ 80 within 25 months of bar application filing under R. Regulating Fla. Bar 4-8.4. The C&F investigation is administered under R. Regulating Fla. Bar Ch. 3. Post-admission CLE is 31 hours / 3 years (including 5 hours ethics + 2.5 hours professionalism / 3-yr cycle), with the Basic Skills Course required within the first year under R. Regulating Fla. Bar 6-12.4.

NextGen Bar shifts

What the NextGen rollout does to the FL bar you’re studying for.

NCBE’s revised bar exam — the “NextGen” rollout — reweights Day 2 AM MBE blocks toward integrated cross-disciplinary scenarios, drifts the Day 1 PM FL-only MC toward the revised fact-pattern register, and recalibrates the Day 1 PM writing-drill 90-minute budget around Fla. R. Civ. P. + Fla. Stat. ch. 90 Evidence file/libraries. Florida overlays a steady FL-specific frame on top of it: the two-day Tampa-administered FBBE, the 70%+ scaled essay + 70%+ MBE blend, the Fla. Const. art. X § 4 homestead doctrine, the Fla. Stat. ch. 61 Family Law framework, the Fla. Stat. ch. 90 Evidence overlay, and the R. Regulating Fla. Bar ch. 4–5 PR + trust-accounting treatment. Below is the per-topic shift list as it lands when NextGen rolls into Florida’s FBBE administration. Pending FBBE adoption.

What stays

The FL-specific overlay doesn’t shift.

  • The two-day FBBE administration at the Tampa Convention Center, twice a year in February and July, sits under the Florida Board of Bar Examiners (FBBE) acting under the Supreme Court of Florida and Rule III — the 70%+ scaled essay + 70%+ MBE blended weight is unchanged regardless of how NCBE reweights its MBE.
  • Fla. Const. art. X § 4 homestead stays an FL-only essay anchor — Florida is a homestead jurisdiction under the State Constitution, and NCBE weight shifts cannot erase the explicit constitutional treatment.
  • Fla. Stat. ch. 61 (Family Law) anchors the Day 1 AM essay and carries its distinctive equitable-distribution framework (ch. 61 § 61.075), parenting plans, and timesharing — a structural rewrite from common-law divorce that stays put under NextGen.
  • Fla. Stat. ch. 90 (FL Evidence) overlays the Day 1 PM FL-only MC and the Day 1 AM essay whenever Evidence applies — the FL hearsay, business-records, and residual-exception treatment stays the testing surface.
  • Fla. Stat. ch. 732 (Wills / Trusts / Estates), Fla. Stat. ch. 718 (Real Property), Fla. Stat. ch. 607 (BOCA = Florida Business Corporation Act), and Fla. R. Civ. P. / Fla. R. Crim. P. on procedural issues stay the Day 1 AM authoritative sources the FBBE essay grader reads for.
  • MPRE ≥ 80 under R. Regulating Fla. Bar 4-8.4, the R. Reg. Fla. Bar ch. 4–5 PR + trust-accounting overlay, and the 31-hour / 3-year post-admission CLE biennium (incl. 5-hour Ethics + the Basic Skills Course required under R. Reg. Fla. Bar 6-12.4 within the first year) are unchanged regardless of NCBE shifts.

What changes

Where NCBE reweights, the FL bar adapts.

  • Day 1 PM FL-only MC block reweights toward integrated, cross-disciplinary scenario stems — single-issue Evidence or one-rule Family Law drills give up weight to multi-issue fact patterns that stack Evidence onto Family Law, PR, and Conflicts.
  • Day 2 AM MBE reweights under NCBE NextGen — Civil Procedure and Evidence move up, while Real Property, Torts, and Contracts see a lighter slice of the MBE; the seven MBE subjects reshape inside the block, not across blocks.
  • The Day 1 PM writing-drill 90-minute budget recalibrates around Fla. R. Civ. P. (1.070 service, 1.130 pleading, 1.510 summary judgment) plus Fla. Stat. ch. 90 Evidence file/libraries — the MPT-style task-model skeleton lengthens, and the file/library combinations rebalance toward longer objective-memo + brief tasks.
  • Civil Procedure and Evidence move up under NextGen weight at the MBE level, while Real Property, Torts, and Contracts see a lighter slice — the multistate block reshapes inside the seven subjects; the FL overlay on Real Property (homestead) and Family Law (ch. 61) stays put.
  • Professional Responsibility becomes the connective tissue across MBE subjects — R. Regulating Fla. Bar ch. 4–5 rule overlays layered onto Civ Pro, Evidence, and Conflicts fact patterns, sharing the same connective role PR plays in CA’s CRPC and TX’s Model-Rules overlay.

The shift list above tracks the editorial read of the NextGen rollout as it applies to Florida’s FBBE administration. Topic shifts

Per-topic shifts when NextGen rolls into FL.

Each card lists the shift direction, the exam bucket it lands in, and a study material CTA where one exists. New buckets with no study material yet route to /pricing for the access pass.

Scaling up
MBE
Civil Procedure (FL + MBE bridge)

Civ Pro picks up share of the Day 2 AM MBE block as NextGen-weighted scoring pulls more question stems into the integrated scenario bucket, anchored to Fla. R. Civ. P.

NCBE’s reweighting makes Civ Pro the second-heaviest subject after Evidence on the integrated side. The FBBE essay grader is reading for Fla. R. Civ. P. 1.070 (service), 1.130 (pleading), and 1.510 (summary judgment) on Day 1 AM; the MBE side now layers FL procedure into multi-issue fact patterns.

Scaling up
MBE
Evidence (FL ch. 90 + FRE bridge)

Evidence carries the heaviest single-subject MBE count under NextGen, and the Fla. Stat. ch. 90 overlay sits adjacent to more integrated Day 1 PM FL-only MC stems.

Evidence scores heaviest on the reweighted distribution. Fla. Stat. ch. 90 hearsay, business-records, and residual-exception treatment now show up inside multi-issue fact patterns on Day 1 PM more often than as a stand-alone stem — FL Evidence overlays the federal rule where they diverge.

Scaling up
Cross-cut
Professional Responsibility

PR is now the connective tissue — R. Regulating Fla. Bar ch. 4–5 rules surface inside MBE stems on conflicts, confidentiality, communication, fees, and trust accounting.

NextGen emphasis on cross-disciplinary scenarios pushes PR onto the MBE block in addition to the Day 1 AM essay. The Rules Regulating the Florida Bar ch. 4–5 replace the ABA Model Rules where the FBBE grader is reading, and trust accounting under R. Reg. Fla. Bar 5-1.1 bites harder as a result.

New
Cross-cut
Integrated Scenario Sets

A dedicated cross-disciplinary bucket lands under NextGen — multi-subject fact patterns that don’t fit cleanly into a single MBE category, often Family Law + Evidence + PR.

FL’s two-day Tampa-administered posture adapts to the new NCBE format. The bucket is new across all three FL slices; study material ships with the access pass rollout and the existing FL-tuned MBE bank + FL family law guide cover the constituent subjects today.

Scaling down
MBE
Real Property (homestead stays)

Real Property stays in scope but its MBE weight drops under NextGen reweighting — fewer questions, deeper coverage; Fla. Const. art. X § 4 homestead stays an FL-only essay anchor.

Lighter against Civ Pro and Evidence on Day 2 AM. Still tested; Fla. Stat. ch. 718 (real property, incl. homestead) and the Fla. Const. art. X § 4 explicit constitutional treatment stay FL-distinctive anchors on the Day 1 AM essay side even as the MBE share contracts.

Scaling down
MBE
Torts

Torts sees fewer stand-alone stems under NextGen — the rule still applies inside integrated Day 2 AM scenarios more often than as a primary subject.

Lighter MBE share. Negligence, strict liability, products, and intentional torts stay tested, but the proportional slot inside the integrated bucket contracts; comparative-fault overlays on the FBBE essay side stay a FL-distinctive anchor.

Scaling down
MBE
Contracts

Contracts sees a smaller Day 2 AM block — UCC Article 2 + Florida consumer-statute overlays stay the Day 1 AM essay moveable points.

Lighter MBE weight under NextGen, unchanged on the Day 1 AM essay side. Florida adopts UCC Article 2; the moveable points are the FL-specific adoption layer plus statute-of-frauds reasoning on the FBBE essay.

Steady
Essay
Family Law (ch. 61)

Family Law holds its Day 1 AM slot — Fla. Stat. ch. 61 (equitable distribution, parenting plans, timesharing) is the canonical FL essay.

Equitable distribution under Fla. Stat. § 61.075 (not community property), parenting plans and timesharing under § 61.13, and child-support guidelines stay the FBBE Day 1 AM anchor. The MBE side contracts slightly; the FL essay weight does not shift.

Steady
Essay
Wills / Trusts / Estates

Wills stays a steady Day 1 AM slot — Fla. Stat. ch. 731–735 (not the old Fla. Prob. Code) is the controlling framework on the FBBE essay.

Independent administration, no-bond default, and the broader Fla. Stat. ch. 731–735 citation layer stay as-is. The Day 2 AM MBE surface contracts a little; the FL capstone essay slot stays put.

Steady
MBE
Constitutional Law (FL + federal bridge)

Constitutional Law weight on the Day 2 AM MBE is unchanged — federal overlay rule stays the rule, with FL-specific takings + ballot access + art. X § 4 on the essay side.

Equal protection, due process, dormant Commerce Clause, and FL-specific takings / ballot-access overlays remain stable. Volume contracts slightly under NextGen; difficulty stays the same.

Steady
MBE
Criminal Law & Procedure

Criminal Law and 4th / 5th / 6th / 14th amendment doctrine stay at the same weight, with the Fla. R. Crim. P. overlay intact.

Mens rea, the homicide ladder, inchoate crimes, plus Fla. R. Crim. P. procedure stay on the same weight slot. FL-specific overlays continue to determine Day 1 AM essay answers where they bite.

Steady
Essay
Business Associations (BOCA)

Business Associations holds its Day 1 AM slot — Fla. Stat. ch. 607 (BOCA) is the controlling framework on the FBBE essay.

Fla. Stat. ch. 607 framing — corporations, partnerships, LLCs, agency, fiduciary duties, and piercing the corporate veil — is the FL anchor. The MBE surface contracts slightly; the supporting Fla. Stat. ch. 607 citation layer is unchanged.

Steady
Cross-cut
Fla. Stat. ch. 90 Evidence (FL-only bridge)

Fla. Stat. ch. 90 Evidence overlays the Day 1 PM FL-only MC and the Day 1 AM essay wherever Evidence applies — the FL hearsay, business-records, residual-exception treatment.

ch. 90 is the FL-side Evidence overlay that runs alongside the FRE on the MBE; it stays the testing surface on the Day 1 PM FL-only MC and the Day 1 AM essay. NextGen MBE weight shifts do not change ch. 90’s standing as the FL-side authority.

Steady
Essay
FL Constitutional Law — homestead + takings

Fla. Const. art. X § 4 homestead + the FL-specific takings posture stay Day 1 AM anchors — Florida’s homestead protection survives NCBE reweighting.

The constitutional homestead carve-out is a FL-only doctrine that does not map to any MBE subject cleanly — it stays an FBBE essay anchor. Fla. Const. art. X § 4 + the FL takings posture carry the Day 1 AM slot regardless of MBE weight shifts.

Florida module · FAQ

The five questions buyers ask before purchasing.

These are the questions Florida candidates ask before pulling the trigger — scope, the overlay, the NextGen rollout, the FBBE filing window, and how /florida and /module/florida relate.

What does the Florida module include?

Four slices — a Day-1-AM FL essay outline anchored to Florida statutes and the Florida Constitution, a Day-1-PM FL-only multiple-choice drill + a Day-2-AM FL-tuned MBE bank, a 3-month strategy with a 13-week calendar, and an FL civil-procedure & evidence writing drill anchored to Fla. R. Civ. P. + ch. 90 Evidence — plus the five-guide library and an academic-content list (12 essay prompts sized for the FBBE cycle). The purchase unlocks every slice for the duration of your access window.

Will NextGen change the FL bar I’m studying for?

NextGen — NCBE’s revised bar exam — reweights the Day 2 AM MBE block toward integrated cross-disciplinary scenarios, drifts the Day 1 PM FL-only MC toward the revised fact-pattern register, and recalibrates the Day 1 PM writing-drill 90-minute budget around Fla. R. Civ. P. + Fla. Stat. ch. 90 Evidence file/libraries. The FL-specific overlay stays steady: the two-day Tampa-administered FBBE, the 70%+ scaled essay + 70%+ MBE blend, the Fla. Const. art. X § 4 homestead doctrine, the Fla. Stat. ch. 61 Family Law framework, the Fla. Stat. ch. 90 Evidence overlay, and the R. Regulating Fla. Bar ch. 4–5 PR + trust-accounting treatment. See the new “NextGen Bar shifts” section above for the per-topic shift list.

Why is Florida structured as a flagship non-UBE module?

Florida runs the Florida Bar Examination (FBBE) — its own two-day, 12-hour Tampa-administered exam, not the UBE. Unlike New York, Illinois, Texas, or Pennsylvania, every Florida-flavored question stays anchored to Florida authorities. Day 1 AM (3 FL essays) is anchored to the Florida-published topic list — Florida Constitutional Law (incl. Fla. Const. art. X § 4 homestead), the Fla. Stat. ch. 61 Family Law framework, Fla. Stat. ch. 731–735 Wills / Trusts / Estates, Fla. Stat. ch. 718 Real Property, Fla. Stat. ch. 607 BOCA, and the Fla. R. Civ. P. / Fla. R. Crim. P. on procedural issues. Day 1 PM (~100 FL-only MC) anchors to Fla. Stat. ch. 90 (Evidence), the Fla. R. Crim. P., and the R. Regulating Fla. Bar ch. 4–5 (Rules of Professional Conduct + trust accounting). Day 2 AM (200-question MBE) stays the same as in every UBE jurisdiction. The module matches that: every essay example names the Florida source, every MBE overlay points to a Florida authority, and the writing drill remaps the 90-minute MPT time budget to Fla. R. Civ. P. + Fla. Stat. ch. 90 Evidence instead of the multistate equivalents.

How does the price match the rest of the modules?

The Florida module ships at the same $499 one-time pricing as California and Louisiana — one barcode, one price, one access window. No separate essay SKU; the bundle is the slice. Pricing is sourced from the deployed StateModule row, so the live amount follows the same authoritative source.

Is there still a free preview at /florida?

Yes — /florida remains the public preview, with the same three-part FBBE overview (FL essays · FL MC · MBE), the FBBE administration block, and the waitlist. /module/florida is the FL-shaped purchase surface: the four slices consolidated on one page with the buy CTA at the top.

End-to-end verification

Florida live-purchase verification log.

Each of the four buy-funnel stages — checkout initiated, payment success, module unlocked, AI-graded essay score — was run against the live deploy on 2026-08-14, against https://barstudyprep.polsia.app. The verdict and evidence for each stage is preserved below so the next operator can read pass/fail on the live page without a separate doc. Failures include concrete repro steps. Re-verification replaces this block in place.

Stage 1 · Checkout initiated

FAIL

POST /api/fl-module/checkout mints a live Stripe hosted-checkout URL.

Verified against the live deploy.

The FL checkout route returns 502 {"error":"checkout_failed"} on every call. Stripe itself is operational on the live deploy — the parallel calls for /api/la-module/checkout and /api/ca-module/checkout both mint real Stripe URLs (cs_live_a1u… and cs_live_a1y…). The root cause sits in the data: the StateModule row keyed on code="FL" carries a `header` value of 557 characters, and Stripe rejects Checkout session descriptions longer than 500 characters. The route catches the throw in its catch-all branch and returns the generic 502 — so the same buyer-facing fail mode hits every FL request, and the Stage 1 pass criterion is unmet.

Evidence — verbatim curl / log capture
$ curl -sS -X POST https://barstudyprep.polsia.app/api/fl-module/checkout \

#   SD  → 793  ✗    WI  → 1381 ✗
#   HI  → 719  ✗    DE  → 1439 ✗    NV  → 1118 ✗

Repro

  1. Run the curl above against https://barstudyprep.polsia.app/api/fl-module/checkout.
  2. Expected per the plan: {"checkoutUrl":"https://checkout.stripe.com/c/pay/cs_test_…"}, HTTP 200.
  3. Actual: {"error":"checkout_failed"}, HTTP 502 — reproduced on three independent retries with different customer_email payloads (`verify+fl-20260814@example.com`, `verify+fl-20260814-2@example.com`, an empty {} body).
  4. Inspect StateModule row keyed on code="FL": the `header` column is 557 chars; the checkout helper forwards `description: stateModule.header ?? undefined` into Stripe (lib/business/fl-module.ts:129), and Stripe refuses descriptions >500.
  5. Recommended fix (not in scope for the verify PR): trim FL's `header` to ≤500 chars — or stop forwarding `description` when the header would exceed the cap. SD / WI / HI / DE / NV ship the same condition and likely need the same fix.

Stage 2 · Payment success

BLOCKED

Success-page poll recognises the paid session and writes an ExamAccess row with moduleCode=FL.

Cannot drive this stage end-to-end — Stage 1 returns no Stripe URL, so there is no cs_test_ session to redirect from and no PaymentIntent to land on /payment/success?. The downstream surfaces are reachable and respond correctly to a fake id: GET /api/checkout/poll?session_id=cs_test_fake returns {"verified":false,"access":null}; GET /api/stripe-billing/verify?session_id=cs_test_fake returns {"verified":false}. Both wire shapes match what the success-page island expects, so the access card would render the moment a real paid session id exists. The webhook-equivalent cron (polsia.toml [[crons]] "stripe-process-payments" running src/lib/jobs/process-payments.js on "* * * * *") is the safety net for buyers who close the success page; that path is also blocked because no PaymentEvent ever lands for FL.

Evidence — verbatim curl / log capture
# Server probes — handler surfaces reached without a paid session:
$ curl -sS "https://barstudyprep.polsia.app/api/checkout/poll?session_id=cs_test_fake"

{"verified":false,"access":null}
HTTP_CODE:200

$ curl -sS "https://barstudyprep.polsia.app/api/stripe-billing/verify?session_id=cs_test_fake"

{"verified":false}
HTTP_CODE:200

# /payment/success route itself returns 200 HTML (the success-page island
# then drives the verify + path-resolution against the session id token).
$ curl -sS -I "https://barstudyprep.polsia.app/payment/success"

HTTP/2 200

Repro

  1. Stage 2 cannot be triggered until Stage 1 produces a cs_test_ URL.
  2. Re-run end-to-end verification after the FL `header` length fix (or after removing `description` when header would exceed the cap) and Stage 1 produces a real Stripe URL.
  3. Then drive a browser to the checkout URL, pay with test card 4242 4242 4242 4242 / exp 12/34 / CVC 123 / ZIP 12345, capture the full /payment/success?session_id=… URL it lands on, and verify both /api/checkout/poll and the matching SELECT FROM "ExamAccess" WHERE "stripeCheckoutSessionId"=… row.

Stage 3 · Module unlocked

FAIL

GET /api/fl-module/status resolves hasAccess:true for a paying buyer and flips the island to the access card.

Verified against the live deploy.

Even without a paying buyer, the route should at least mint a real needsCheckout URL so the island can render an actionable buy button. Instead GET /api/fl-module/status returns the https://example.invalid/checkout-unavailable sentinel URL with HTTP 503 — the catch branch at api/fl-module/status/route.ts:60. This is downstream of Stage 1: when mintFloridaCheckoutUrl throws (because Stripe rejects the oversized description), the status route swallows the throw and returns the inert placeholder. Until Stage 1 is fixed, every FL buyer is bounced off a non-functional button, and /module/florida?session_id=… can never resolve hasAccess:true on the live deploy.

Evidence — verbatim curl / log capture
$ curl -sS "https://barstudyprep.polsia.app/api/fl-module/status?session_id=cs_test_fake"

{"hasAccess":false,"needsCheckout":{"url":"https://example.invalid/checkout-unavailable","amountUsd":499,"name":"Florida"}}
HTTP_CODE:503

# /module/florida itself renders 200 — the page mounts, but with the island
# reading needsCheckout.url=https://example.invalid/… it stays on the
# "Get the Florida module to unlock everything" panel and never flips.
$ curl -sS -I "https://barstudyprep.polsia.app/module/florida"

HTTP/2 200

Repro

  1. Send GET /api/fl-module/status with no paid session id (or any fake cs_test_ token) — the response falls back to the example.invalid URL with HTTP 503.
  2. Re-run verification once the FL `header` length fix is in place and Stage 1 produces a real Stripe URL — needsCheckout.url should point at https://checkout.stripe.com/c/pay/cs_live_…, the island should flip to the access card, and the slice-card nav (outline / MBE / strategy / MPT) should render.

Stage 4 · AI-graded essay

BLOCKED

POST /api/fl-module/grade returns a calibrated 1–6 score with four criterion tiles for FL Family Law.

Verified against the live deploy.

Cannot drive this stage — the access gate at api/fl-module/grade/route.ts:81 blocks with 402 {"status":"no_access",…} before the LLM call runs, because no ExamAccess row for FL exists (Stage 1 never produces a buyer). The route wire shape for the no-access branch is correct and returns a needsCheckout URL — same downstream Stage 3 fail mode. The AI enrich target (enqueueAndGradeFl → generateObject against the Polymia proxy, schema {score, criterionScores, reasoning}) and the FL-specific rubric prompt (Fla. Stat. § 61.075, Fla. Const. art. X § 4, R. Regulating Fla. Bar ch. 4–5) are wired into flEssayGradeStartSchema; whether that produces a calibrated 1–6 score is unverified end-to-end on the live deploy. Subject targeted for the verify: FL_FAMILY_LAW, ~300+ words of IRAC prose referencing at least one Florida authority.

Evidence — verbatim curl / log capture
# Surface probe — the gate responds correctly under no_access:
$ curl -sS -X POST https://barstudyprep.polsia.app/api/fl-module/grade \
    -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
    -d '{"handle":{"kind":"session","value":"cs_test_fake"},"topic":"FL_FAMILY_LAW","essay":"Issue: Whether the court erred … 400+ chars …"}'

{"status":"no_access","needsCheckout":{"url":"https://example.invalid/checkout-unavailable","amountUsd":499,"name":"Florida"}}
HTTP_CODE:402

Repro

  1. Stage 4 cannot produce a score until a real FL ExamAccess row exists.
  2. Once Stages 1–3 succeed, paste a ≥300-word FL Family Law IRAC essay referencing Fla. Stat. § 61.075 + Fla. Const. art. X § 4 into /florida/essays?session_id=… and Submit.
  3. Verify {"status":"graded","score":N (1..6),"criterionScores":{...},"reasoning":"..."} returns, and that an EssayGradingRequest row lands with moduleCode="FL", status="graded", score populated.
  4. If the AI proxy returns 503 (ai_not_configured) or the response lacks status:"graded", surface the verbatim error in this card.
